Brussels Mussels

Mussels, peeing boy, lace, chocolates

I like the smaller towns better. Brussels is a little dirtier, impersonal, touristy and cold. Even Berlin was so much better... these old cities somehow dont do it for me. Went to the usual touristy spots, led by Kevan and his gf...both on exchange to Brussels. The pic of peeing boy (Manneken Pis): many legends surround the peeing boy. Some say he pee-ed on the house door of a witch, she got so mad and turned him into a statue, some say a dad constructed the statue after he found his lost son, some say he saved a city from a bomb during the world war. Whatever it is, its something visitors to Brussels never miss.

This bronze statue has over 600 costumes preserved in the King's House or City Museum. The costume collection started in 1698 and are usually given as gifts by visitors to the Brussels. There's even Elvis Presley and Mickey Mouse outfits!! Frankly, its just a statue but maybe with some imagination...

Highlight of Brussels trip: our fantastic dinner at Leon's (est 1893)
Mussels in white wine (stolen from Nic! hehe) and a roasted half chicken for me! and pai went hunting for more kebabs.

Last fleeting thought of the day - Bak Kwa from Kevan. Heavenly
