Hello from Holland!

After 2 weeks of crazy packing and trying to get the suitcase to shut, Holland has finally come. I'm going to use the blog to record events and also for u, my lovely friends. Its getting tiring typing email so hehe lazy me!

Going to sum the day up and not bore ourselves to bits.

For the record, yesterday we got into the guesthouse and its been a very exciting and stressful day so far. Schipol lost Chui's luggage and we had to get it sent to our guesthouse. BUT BUT BUT the address that was given to them apparently was for a wrong place. That was 1 train stop away from us at a place called Ryandwyke, something like that. We had our first um i dont even know what to call it.... lets just say, close encounter.

We just collected Chui's luggage from the 'wrong address' given to them and were heading back to the train station near our place... and the cabin which we were in was the first cabin, empty when we first got into it. Later this bunch of guys in black biker jackets with sew-ons got into the same cabin as us. They REEKED of beer. And btw beer here is cheaper than mineral water. and you can get decent bottle of local wine for around 1-3 Euros. (1 Euro = 2.15 SGD) One of the huge intimidating guys spoke to me a string of dutch words, not profaneity i hope, then obviously me and chui dint know what they were saying so we just smiled and shook our heads. Perhaps it was the sight of 2 pintsized Asian girls travelling alone that amused them so much. Insights from some of you guys, any ang moh in Holland who sees a Chinese/oriental/viet/japanese girl will think of porn flicks cos thats the only place they see Asian girls. And besides, they cant tell the chinese/viet/japanese apart.

Back to the beer-smelling dutch guy in the train: more of his equally beer-smelling friends boarded and it became so rowdy like some party on the train. Imagine almost 12 big dutch guys high on beer and 2 young chinese chicks. If not for Chui who reminded that our ordeal would only last 1 train stop i'd have gotten my butt out of there before we become tomorrow's headlines. Then again, even if we disappeared no one would know!

Ok, so thats it for the close encounter of the dutch kind on our very first day. The place we're stayin in is more like a small town which almost no commercial activities but a couple of banks. The city central is around a 15-20 min walk away from where we stay. AND THERE ARE TONS OF SALES going on in the shops there. Anyone coming to Europe wana help me bring some clothes back? :)

Its been snowing here for the past few days and the locals say it rarely snows here, so guess we're lucky :) Its so pretty I like it so much better than Singapore's scorching heat but she doesnt feel the same. Logic goes that if you're cold you can put on more layers and get warm and cosy under, and yet not sweat while you walk... but there's a limit on how much you'd like to strip down to in Singapore =p

Ok time to shower now, will continue tomorrow and I kinda miss home a bit already. tata people!

820am Dutch time.

Dinner was:
black bean chicken and sauteed chinese vege :)
